Job Title: Voiceover Artist
Job Summary:
An individual or artist responsible for creating voice-overs, which are audio recordings that are used in a variety of different ways. These recordings may be used as the soundtrack to an animated character or video, they may be used as part of a commercial or another piece of marketing content, or they may be used as narration for a documentary or other piece of media.
Responsibilities:
- To work with client or agencies to understand the project requirements and deliver a performance that meets or exceeds expectations
- Strong understanding of pacing, inflection, and other vocal techniques to create a natural and believable delivery
- Self-direct in the recording studio and make decisions on the fly to ensure a high-quality recording
- Researching topics, such as current events or industry trends, to ensure they are familiar with the subject matter
- Recording voiceover for commercials, radio ads, TV shows, corporate training videos, phone system messages, and other applications
- Preparing voiceover jobs by researching products and services that will be advertised or discussing topics that will be covered in a recording
- Overseeing the recording process to ensure that producers’ requests are followed and deadlines are met.
- Providing a natural speaking style that is appropriate for the intended audience
- Recording audio using various equipment and techniques, such as digital recorders or studio microphones
- Recording narration for film and television using scripts provided by writers or directors
- Editing audio files to remove extraneous noise or other flaws in the recording
